Timber Alternative Windows
Large range of quality styles and colours for your home
If you desire the organic appearance of timber windows, without the hefty price-tag, you’ll be glad to know that there are now worthy alternatives available from Sheerwater Glass, manufactured from UPVC. Good quality, bespoke timber windows cost a lot more than people initially realise; sometimes costing triple the amount of our UPVC alternative.
Here at Sheerwater Glass, we strongly advise against installing low-cost timber as the potential for rot is greatly increased, creating false economy. There are large quantities of UPVC windows on the market that claim to have the appearance of real wood. However these false claims usually end up failing to satisfy the discerning customer in so many ways. If you are not constrained by planning restrictions and not forced into installing timber frames, we do have some excellent alternatives for you to consider from out Timber Alternative Range.

Design
In comparison with other providers, both of our products offer a higher quality of finish and performance, for many different reasons. Our Timber Alternative windows are designed to emulate real timber windows; we do not create cheap plastic windows that simply display a wood grained effect. At Sheerwater Glass we produce windows that look and feel like real timber, which is easily maintained and cleaned.
In addition to this, your new Timber Alternative windows will be extremely energy efficient, draughtproof and will open without sticking throughout all days of the year. This provides you with all the benefits of an easy-to-maintain window, without compromising on appearance and quality. To compliment your chosen design, we also offer window-furniture on all of our window system options. This includes contemporary, monkey-tail and period styles in chrome, black iron and solid brass.
At Sheerwater Glass, we believe you will be pleasantly surprised at the cost of Timber Alternative Options – the prices are extremely competitive in comparison to real timber ranges.
Frames
With our Storm range, all of the framed members are jointed using a similar process of construction to contemporary timber windows. The corners of the frame, as well as mullion, transom or cruciform, are all butt jointed. Our Slimline product also provides the corner of the frames with delicate welds and the option of butt, mullion, transom and cruciform joints. At Sheerwater Glass, our frames are on offer in finishes such as white, cream, black, natural wood, timber grained and many others.
Sashes
We use a timber sash model to design our opening and dummy sashes at Sheerwater Glass. The external edges of our Storm range have a pencil round finish and a putty line edge to the glass. This is welded together with a neat mitred joint and can also be delivered without any grooved corners. Similar to this, our Slimline model also beholds a welded sash to improve structural stability. For a soft aesthetical impression, the sash’s external edge is chamfered along with a putty line edge to the glass.
Discerning property owners
Most of our Timber Alternative Storm and Slimline windows are purchased by property owners who desire real timber but have found the cost unpalatable and have concerns relating to maintenance. These particular people have usually been recommended by a friend, or architect, to visit our well stocked showroom for inspiration.
