Fascias | More Information

We carry over 25 years of experience in roofline repair and replacement, which means that if you feel as if your property’s roofline is in a bad state of disrepair and in dire need of a facelift, we can be there as your number one choice for an unrivalled service, with an emphasis on quality and care.

An integral aspect of a building’s roofline is the fascia. The fascia is the vertically positioned board that acts as the frieze, or band, running across the face of the building where it meets the overhang of the roof. In addition to supporting the weight of the roof, as it is fixed directly to the trusses, the fascia is also designed to cover the internal rafters. Fascias will also carry the guttering of a building; no small task, as in heavy rain the gutters of a typical 3-bed semi-detached home will have several gallons of water washed into it per second.

Many properties over a certain age still carry fascias constructed from timber board. While traditional, timber has the unfortunate tendency to rot due to age and impact from the elements. This characteristic can compromise the integrity of the building, leaving it susceptible to further and more severe damage from rain, as well as opening it to birds and insects and impacting the energy efficiency of your home.

Rather than simply repairing an aged or damaged fascia board, our expert team of Service Engineers will carry out a meticulous and expert roofline replacement process.

We begin by removing the existing timber board and carry out a full check on the rafters for signs of rot.

Should any rot be discovered, we will apply a preservation treatment that helps prevent further decay. Alternatively, should a rafter be beyond repair or maintenance, we will remove the old timber beam and replace it with a new and structurally sound pre-treated beam.

Following this, we will install a damp proof membrane, or DPM, beneath the existing roof felt. This passes directly over the fascia and into the gutter acting as a method of preventing water passing behind the guttering and protects the rafters from damp. Finally, we will install your brand new fascia board.
