Mock sash windows look like a traditional vertical sliding sash, but open like a casement: a fixed pane and a single tilting sash rather than two panels that slide. Built on the same 70mm, six chamber profile as our standard uPVC casement, with a woodgrain foil finish for the character of timber.

A mock sash has a fixed pane and a single sash that tilts open, like a casement window. A traditional sliding sash has two panels that slide vertically past each other. Mock sash suits properties that do not have the frame depth a genuine sliding sash needs.

Is timber alternative the same as your standard uPVC casement?

Essentially, yes. It shares the same 70mm, six chamber profile, 1.2 U-value and A energy rating, finished with a woodgrain foil that gives the look and texture of timber.

Are timber alternative mock sash windows secure?

Do I need planning permission?
