Camberley is a town the army built. The Royal Military College opened at Sandhurst in 1812, the Staff College followed around 1862, and the two settlements that grew up around them were only named Camberley in 1877. That history is still in the housing, and it is why no two streets here need the same answer.

Camberley has four distinct housing stories layered on top of each other. Victorian building driven by two military colleges and the 1878 railway. A 1950s London overspill estate at Old Dean. Late twentieth century suburb. And a ring of outer villages on the Chobham Ridges heathland, where a 1,200 home new build neighbourhood is going up on a demolished barracks.
Around 28 per cent of Camberley’s homes are detached and nearly 23 per cent are flats, so the answer varies as much within the town as across the borough.

Usually not. Replacing windows in a house is normally permitted development, and that still applies inside a conservation area. It changes if your house is listed, or if Surrey Heath Borough Council has made an Article 4 direction covering your street, which withdraws permitted development rights. Flats and maisonettes are treated differently to houses.
Bagshot has a conservation area, containing the Grade II listed St Anne’s Church. Other parts of the borough are covered too. We check the position on your address as part of the survey rather than leaving it with you.
Much of Surrey Heath is Metropolitan Green Belt, and the borough contains five Sites of Special Scientific Interest, four of which form part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area. That matters less for replacing windows than for building anything new. Both, in a way, and it catches people out. Blackwater’s post town is Camberley and its postcode is GU17, but administratively it sits in Hart district, Hampshire. Sandhurst and College Town are GU47 and sit in Bracknell Forest, Berkshire. We cover all of them, so it makes no difference to us, but it matters when you are dealing with planning.

Slimline uPVC casements, most of the time. Old Dean was built in the 1950s and 1960s as London overspill housing, mainly semi detached and terraced, and the original apertures are a good size. A slimline frame gives you noticeably more glass and a better U value in the same opening, without altering the look of the street. Composite front doors are the other common job there.
Yes. Mindenhurst is the 1,200 home neighbourhood being built on the former Princess Royal Barracks site. New build glazing is normally still under the developer’s warranty at first, but we fit upgrades, replacement sealed units, roof lanterns and bifolding doors there as houses change hands.
