What VELUX windows cost

From £1,800 per window, supplied and fitted, including VAT.*

If your existing VELUX window has failed, a full new installation may not be necessary. We also offer replacement glass units and hinges where the original frame is still sound, usually a lower-cost option than a full replacement.

Prices are indicative. Access, the condition of the existing frames and the fitting itself all move the final figure. Your quotation is the accurate number, and it is free.

Spread the cost

Your payment can be spread monthly over a term of up to 10 years.** Finance is provided by Dopple and you apply through our finance portal. A small deposit is due on order, the balance on completion.

How long it takes

Stage How long
Enquiry to home visit As little as 2 working days
Home visit to quotation 2 working days, up to 5 for specialist items
Order to technical survey Up to 10 working days
Order to installation Generally 8 to 10 weeks
Time on site Typically 1 to 2 days for a full house
Do you need to move out? No. You stay in the house throughout

Why quotes are valid for 14 days

Glass manufacturing is heavily energy dependent, so our costs move with energy prices. Rather than pad every quotation against a rise that may not happen, we quote the real number on the day. If it lapses, come back whenever you are ready and we will requote free of charge.

Why homeowners choose VELUX

You want more natural light and better ventilation. Choose from top-hung, centre-pivot or conservation styles depending on your roof and room.

You want it energy efficient. VELUX’s ThermoTechnology uses modern manufacturing and materials to reduce heat loss and energy usage.

You want ventilation even when it’s closed. A ventilation bar allows fresh air in without fully opening the window.

You want your home to manage itself. The VELUX ACTIVE home kit uses smart sensors to monitor temperature, humidity and CO2, automatically opening or closing the window in response.

Which VELUX style suits your roof?

All three styles share the same VELUX performance. The difference is how they open, and where they suit your roof.

Type Best suited to How it opens
Top-hung Rooms wanting maximum headroom when open Hinges at the top, opens outward
Centre-pivot Rooflines where a wider view or easier cleaning matters Pivots on a central axis
Conservation Listed buildings and conservation areas Styled to match traditional roof windows

VELUX windows: your questions answered

My VELUX window's glass has broken or misted, do I need a full replacement?

Not necessarily. If the frame is still sound, we can often fit a new double glazed unit or replace the glass and hinges instead of a full replacement.

What's the VELUX ACTIVE home kit?

A smart, sensor-based system that monitors your home’s temperature, humidity and CO2 levels, automatically opening or closing your VELUX window to keep conditions comfortable.

Which style suits my roof?

Top-hung suits rooms wanting maximum headroom when open, centre-pivot suits rooflines where a wider view or easier cleaning matters, and conservation styles suit listed buildings and conservation areas. We can advise at survey.

Do I need planning permission?

Often not, but it can depend on your property and whether it’s listed or in a conservation area, particularly for conservation-style roof windows. We will flag it at survey if we think you are affected.

Will I get a FENSA certificate?

Yes, automatically, on every installation that qualifies. You will need it when you sell the house.

Ready to get a quote?

You’ll speak to a real person, not a call centre. We’ll talk you through options, no pressure.

Pricing, finance and page notes

* Prices are indicative starting prices, reviewed regularly. They are based on a 1200 x 1200mm window in white with one side hung opener, a fanlight and a fixed pane below, supplied and fitted including VAT, and an order of four windows to the same property. Colours and woodgrain finishes cost more.

** Finance is provided by Dopple, not by Sheerwater Glass. Specifications vary by window style, so a figure given here for a VELUX window may not apply to another style, size or finish. What governs your installation is the specification in your written quotation and signed contract. Guarantee terms are confirmed separately, see the note at the end of this document. If a particular figure matters to your decision, ask your surveyor and we will put it in writing.
