Sheerwater Glass started in Sheerwater, and Woking has been our home borough ever since. Fifty years on we are still fitting windows, doors, conservatories and cut glass across GU21, GU22, GU24 and KT14, and still repairing work other companies fitted.

Woking is not one housing market. The borough runs from a town centre that is almost entirely 20th and 21st century, through large postwar estates, out to village cores that have barely changed since the 1900s, and then into green belt, which covers around 60 per cent of the borough. What suits a Goldsworth Park semi will look wrong on a Horsell villa.

Usually not. Replacing windows in a house is normally permitted development, and that still applies inside a conservation area. Two things change it. If your house is listed, you will need listed building consent whatever you are doing. And if Woking Borough Council has made an Article 4 direction covering your street, permitted development rights are withdrawn and you will need planning permission for the change.
Several of Woking’s older neighbourhoods sit within conservation areas, and flats and maisonettes are treated differently to houses in any case. We check this as part of the survey rather than leaving it with you, and if consent is needed we will tell you before you order.

You get a fitting date when you order, not a window of weeks. If a delivery slips, we call you before you have to call us.
Glass manufacturing is heavily energy dependent, so our costs move with energy prices. Rather than pad every quotation against a rise that may not happen, we quote the real number on the day. If it lapses, come back whenever you are ready and we will requote free of charge.

Our showroom is at Unit B5, Moorfield Point, 41 Slyfield Industrial Estate, Guildford, GU1 1RU. From Woking town centre it is around 6 miles, roughly 20 minutes down the A320. There is parking on site and you do not need an appointment. Windows, doors, conservatory roofs and glass products are all on display, so you can open them, close them, feel the difference between a standard uPVC casement and our slimline range, and see colours properly rather than on a screen.

Yes. Much of Woking town centre is flats, and we fit and repair in them regularly. For a leasehold flat you will normally need written consent from the freeholder or managing agent before work starts, and in some blocks the windows are the freeholder’s responsibility rather than yours. We will tell you which applies at the survey.
Yes, automatically, on every installation that qualifies. Our installers are FENSA registered, so your work is self certified for building regulations and the certificate is issued without you doing anything. You will need it when you sell the house.
