Ascot is a town of large houses in large grounds, with a postwar town centre in the middle of it and Windsor Great Park on the doorstep. North Ascot in particular is dominated by big late Victorian and Edwardian houses in spacious plots, alongside 1970s and 1980s estates whose original glazing is now well past its life.

Ascot is one of the most expensive towns in England, and that produces a particular set of problems rather than an absence of them. Large Victorian and Edwardian houses in big grounds mean a lot of windows, often original, often in openings no standard product fits. The town centre is mostly postwar flats above shops. And the 1970s and 1980s estate housing in between is now on its second generation of glazing.

It depends which side of the town you are on, and this catches people out. Ascot, South Ascot and a small part of North Ascot sit in the civil parish of Sunninghill and Ascot, within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Most of North Ascot sits in Winkfield parish, within Bracknell Forest. Both are unitary authorities, both have their own planning department, and the boundary runs through the town.
If you are in Sunningdale or Cheapside you are in Windsor and Maidenhead. If you are north of the A329 and west of the A332 you are more likely to be in Bracknell Forest. We establish which applies at the survey rather than leaving it with you.
Usually not. Replacing windows in a house is normally permitted development, and that still applies inside a conservation area. It changes if your house is listed, or if the council has made an Article 4 direction covering your street, which withdraws permitted development rights. Flats and maisonettes are treated differently to houses.
There are listed buildings across the area, including The Cedars at Sunninghill, Charters at Sunningdale and the Thatched Tavern at Cheapside. Anything listed needs consent whatever you are doing.

You get a fitting date when you order, not a window of weeks. If a delivery slips, we call you before you have to call us.
Glass manufacturing is heavily energy dependent, so our costs move with energy prices. Rather than pad every quotation against a rise that may not happen, we quote the real number on the day. If it lapses, come back whenever you are ready and we will requote free of charge.

There is also a direct train: Ascot station sits on the line through Bagshot and Aldershot to Guildford.
