Sheerwater Glass started in Sheerwater, and Woking has been our home borough ever since. Fifty years on we are still fitting windows, doors, conservatories and cut glass across GU21, GU22, GU24 and KT14, and still repairing work other companies fitted.
Weybridge is four towns in one. A late Victorian and Edwardian core around Monument Green. A Georgian influenced village at Oatlands, most of it finished by 1859. A gated private estate at St George’s Hill with one acre minimum plots and Arts and Crafts origins. And a great many flats, which is the part of Weybridge nobody writes about.

Weybridge has a reputation for mansions, and the mansions are real. But the census tells a more interesting story: across Weybridge North and Weybridge South, flats make up roughly a third and over two fifths of homes respectively, against a South East average of under 23 per cent. St George’s Hill is the exception, not the rule.
The town grew in phases, each of which left a distinct kind of housing behind, and each of which needs a different answer.

Usually not. Replacing windows in a house is normally permitted development, and that still applies inside a conservation area. It changes if your house is listed, or if Elmbridge Borough Council has made an Article 4 direction covering your street, which withdraws permitted development rights. Flats and maisonettes are treated differently to houses, and on a leasehold flat you will normally need written consent from the freeholder or managing agent as well.
St George’s Hill is different again. It is a private estate with covenants dating back to its development in 1911, and any external alteration is worth checking against those before it is designed, not after.
Elmbridge Borough Council designates conservation areas at Weybridge (Town Centre and Monument Green), Templemere, Brooklands and the Wey Navigation, along with Hersham Village, Whiteley Village, Walton, Cobham, Esher, Claygate and others across the borough.

You get a fitting date when you order, not a window of weeks. If a delivery slips, we call you before you have to call us.
Glass manufacturing is heavily energy dependent, so our costs move with energy prices. Rather than pad every quotation against a rise that may not happen, we quote the real number on the day. If it lapses, come back whenever you are ready and we will requote free of charge.
