Are conservatories cheaper than extensions?

Extensions do tend to be the more expensive option of the two. There is a great deal more planning and design involved with extensions, and they often require more extensive building work, including laying new foundations and creating new walls. Conservatories, on the other hand, can be a more cost-effective way to add extra space to your home. They are generally quicker to install and require less building work than extensions, making them a popular choice for homeowners who want to increase their living space without breaking the bank. However, the cost of a conservatory will depend on a variety of factors, including the size, style, and materials used. We encourage you to complete our “get a quote” form for a bespoke quote tailored to your individual requirements.

Are conservatories covered by Buildings Insurance?

Once a conservatory has been constructed, it becomes a part of your property’s structure and will be covered by your buildings insurance. This means that if your conservatory is damaged by events such as storm damage or a fallen tree, you should be able to make a claim to cover the cost of repairs. However, it’s important to check your policy to ensure that your conservatory is covered, as some policies may have restrictions on certain types of structure. It’s also worth noting that if your conservatory is damaged due to wear and tear or poor maintenance, your insurance may not cover the cost of repairs. We recommend checking your policy or speaking to your insurance provider to ensure that your conservatory is adequately covered.

Do I need planning permission to build a conservatory?

In most cases, planning permission isn’t required for a conservatory or orangery. However, every property and conservatory is different, and it’s always best to check with your local council to confirm whether planning permission is needed. If you do require planning permission, we’re more than happy to help you with the process. Our team has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to planning permission, and we can guide you through the process from start to finish. So if you’re unsure about whether planning permission is needed for your conservatory or orangery, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for advice and support.
